Studio Tide is a collaborative landscape architecture firm based in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Founded by Licensed Landscape Architect Maggie Heffernan, our team brings a passion for resilient design, native plant communities, and site-specific solutions to every project. We specialize in creating thoughtful, functional outdoor spaces that enhance coastal living while addressing real environmental challenges—like stormwater management, erosion, and habitat loss.
With deep roots in the Mid-Atlantic, our work blends technical expertise with ecological sensitivity. We are proud to provide stamped landscape architectural plans for homeowners, architects, builders, and municipalities—helping projects move forward through permitting while creating places that truly belong to the land.
Our story begins with Maggie’s formal training in Landscape Architecture at the University of Delaware. Early in her career, she worked with the Central Park Conservancy in New York City, contributing to the care and enhancement of one of the most iconic landscapes in the world. She later joined Hawkins Partners in Nashville, where she designed landscapes at a broad scale—from urban parks and streetscapes to large residential communities.
Studio Tide was founded when Maggie returned home to coastal Delaware to bring her skills back to the landscapes that shaped her. Today, we work across Sussex County and beyond, partnering with homeowners, design professionals, and local organizations to deliver landscape architectural design that is both beautiful and deeply functional.
Whether we’re crafting a native planting plan for a dune-side residence, designing a rain garden to solve a drainage issue, or preparing stamped plans for a municipal review, we approach every project with care, collaboration, and a strong sense of place.
